Despicable Me 3 came to Surfers Paradise for this September school holidays for Kids Weeks 2017, from Saturday 23rd to Friday 29th.
The seven-day event is the definitive destination every year to start the school holidays with a bang. Children of all ages, from tots to teens were thoroughly entertained for FREE throughout the precinct.
The daily frolics included the Australian wildlife at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Show, jumping castles, zorb balls, rock climbing walls, Marriot Vacation Club face painting and more spread along the foreshore.
Timezone Gold Coast participated in a fun Mascot Dance party with Dr-Rhythm everyday through the week from 2.30pm till 3 pm.
As the name suggests, Mr Rhythm specialises in the 5th element of the hip-hop culture that is beatboxing. He hosts festivals, nightclubs and events through-out Queensland with a one of a kind stage presence and energy.
There was 10 minutes of classic dance tracks like; Macarena, Nutbush, Grease lightning and YMCA.
To help with the dance moves there was a couple of dancers for local dance schools on stage to remind the mascots of the appropriate dance moves.
Powie had a lot of fun attempting the known dance moves in costume and it was a fun battle in between the professional dances versus the mascots. The kids danced enthusiastically with the performers at the end.
Powie roamed around Paradise Centre after the show high-fiving kids and showing off after every performance.
Timezone Gold Coast took this opportunity to distribute showbags including Timezone Brochures, flags and balloons in addition of more than 15 businesses contributions with the Gold Coast City Council water bottle.
Powie got to entertain the school holiday crowds under the Surfers Paradise sign at the markets' mascot party, which was more casual and interactive compared to the daytime stage show counterpart.
The mascots danced, shook hands and offered photo opportunities with kids and families, while goody bags were being handed out. Some bags included a gold star, which gave random individuals the opportunity to pop a balloon located at the markets marquee with the chance to win 12 prizes, in addition to the entry to win a night's accommodation at the Surfers Paradise Marriot Resort and spa.
The kids week selfie frame proved to be popular for social media promotional purposes. Participants were encouraged to upload their photos to Instagram or Facebook under the hashtags #SurfersParadisemarkets and #SurfersParadiseKidsWeek.
The recurrent yearly event was very successful with families flocking to Surfers Paradise precinct for 7 consecutive days. Timezone Gold Coast looks forward to participate again next year.
